Frilandsmuseet is a part of the National Museum and give you a fantastic a journey back in time, all the way back to the old people and peasant culture in the Nordic region. The museum's large area is located in Lyngby north from Copenhagen in an area called Sorgenfri and is an oasis on its own.
In the green and beautiful surroundings of Sorgenfri, history becomes alive as you enter the old houses and farms. Here is the story told about the everyday lives of people in the country through the last 350 years. The area is large and you can freely move around and discover the old chambers, kitchens, stables and workshops in the area.
In the fields around the houses and farms, you will find sheep, cows and horses, and in the courtyards, you can meet hens, ducks and geese. During the opening season, Frilandsmuseet provides many activities for children and adults. Guided tours and theatre provide an insight into various themes from the peasant culture's everyday life. Frilandsmuseet various workshops give the story alive when you are allowed to work on fabricating wool or make butter.
