North Zealand Veterantog

North Zealand Veterantog Denmark
Graested, Denmark
North Zealand Veterantog (Railway Club), located north from Copenhagen, has a lovely history: The interest in building a model railway facility was established back in 1958 by a group of enthusiasts that established an exhibition at Helsingør Station. This facility later paved the way for a real club, where the goal was to drive veteran train on the tracks of the Hornbæk railway.

In 1971, the first veteran train took off the rails with a double trip to and from Helsingør to Gilleleje. North Zealand Veterantog had a lot of interest from the public and soon the veterans became very popular.

The train rides soon took up in numbers. Old trains, and not least from DSB, were acquired, repaired and maintained. The organisation’s tasks were not only to drive people from place to place but also participated in various Danish movies, events and birthdays in the royal family.

Today, North Zealand Veterantog is known for creating a fascinating historical experience for people. Especially, the annual trip by train to the forest to cut down Christmas tree has become a major event in December.
