Royal Theatre in Copenhagen at Kongens Nytorv is one of the most historical, architectural
treasures in Copenhagen. The Old Stage has since 1748 been located on Kongens
Nytorv, as a part of The Danish Royal Theatre.
were established under King Fredrik V with influence from the English born
Queen Louise, who wished for a place where artists could unfold in Copenhagen.
The theatre was multi-artistic and has today four art forms: Ballet, opera,
acting and The Royal Danish Orchestra.
was built as The Kings Theatre at Kongens Nytorv with public access. The
theatre is designed by Nicolai Eigtved who is also the architect behind
Amalienborg mansions. In 1849, the competition to The Old Stage in Copenhagen
became large. Therefore, it was decided to build an additional building, drawn
by Vilhelm Dahlerup and Ove Pedersen.
ballet is the main act at The Old Stage and it is indeed an amazing experience
because of both the dance itself and the majestic stage. The sealing at The Old
Stage has a beautiful and fabulous stucco with a lovely chandelier, larger than
you can imagine.
Danish Royal Family visits the traditional theatre, the audience takes place
first and then rise when the Royal Family enters.
