The Black Square

The Black Square Denmark
Copenhagen, Denmark
The Black Square on outer Nørrebro is a gathering place for locals where there is a focus on relaxation, socialising and enjoyment.

The long white twisted stripes characterize the square and adorn the urban open space with its beautiful and different decor. If you have children with you, they can play on the huge octopus in the square.

The Black Square is inspired by places in all corners of the world, with English garbage bins, a beautiful Moroccan fountain and signs from all over the world. The site was designed by the Danish internationally recognised architect Bjarke Ingels.

The site is the part of Superkilen People's Park, built in 2012. Superkilen consists of the Black Square, the Red Square and the Green Square. The places are located at Nørrebrogade and Nørrebrohallen.
