At Bagsværd Sø is the historic building Sophienholm, which has been a cultural centre since the 19th century. At Sophienholm, the poet Frederikke Brun created a space for a distinguished social life in which both Oehnschläger, Johan Ludvig Heiberg and Baggesen visited.
Today, Sophienholm still provides a gathering place for cultural and art interested people, by regularly organizing art exhibitions and other cultural events. With a unique location at Bagsværd Sø, Sophienholm is not only a historical building and a cultural gathering place but also a place to come and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Sophienholm's café offers a breathtaking view of Bagsværd Sø, where you can enjoy refreshments, a breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the summer months, Sophienholm offers an outdoor terrace on their terrace if the weather allows it.
Sophienholm invites all princesses, princesses, trolls, witches, cats, lions and other wonderful dressed up to the year's dansish Fastelavn tradition in the beautiful park. The "cat of the barrel" is of course the highlight of the day when everyone dressed meet to fight for this year's cat's wife or cat queen. The cafe sells hot cocoa and almond buns. Remember warm clothes and good mood!
